There are two types of splitters on the market. ALIX.1C has the keyboard as primary pinout, most notebooks have the mouse as primary. Incorrect connection will cause the BIOS to hang. These cables have been lovingly hand painted to mark the correct connection for ALIX (green = mouse, lilac = keyboard)...
