This McGill Microwave Systems 4dBi Tuned Antenna is optimized for high performance especially for the Helium Network. It offers higher coverage and increased HNT earnings thanks to its optimization.

The McGill Microwave Systems Antenna is optimized for the UK/EU Helium hotspots in the 868 frequency band. Often antennas are universal for more frequencies, but this results in suboptimal performance.

This antenna operates in the frequency range: 865 – 870 MHz UK/EU 865 UK & Europe, IN 865 India, RU 864 Russia. It has 4dBi gain and vertical polarization.

The antenna offers more than 7% improvement in transmitted power along with a 1.3:1 VSWR performance. It also results in reduced mis-matched loss when compared to many commercially available 2:1 VSWR performance. The antenna offers 58+/-1 degrees (4dBi) signal radiation footprint.

The McGill Microwave Systems Antenna uses N Type Male connector and it is made from fiberglass. It is 520mm high with 20mm in diameter. It weighs 0.8gh and it is rated for winds of up to 126km/h. It is RoHs Compliant and it also offers a mounting bracket, included in the box.

Horizon 8 Helium is a specialized narrowband antenna operating in a dedicated band (EU868), which allows it to obtain a high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and maintain high sensitivity of the receiver in the device. For certain applications, such as urban environments or where large areas of terrain need to be monitored, the Horizon 8 Helium outdoor antenna will be the perfect addition to your Helium system. It is a solid solution that provides extra power and coverage for Helium outdoor base stations. The antenna has a medium gain of 8dBi, a length of 86cm, a frequency range of 868-880MHz, and comes complete with pole and wall mounting hardware. We have rebuilt the antenna radiator, modifying the radiation pattern, by changing the "phasing"antenna radiators. It is a special antenna, with the main beam of radiation lowered (towards the ground) by 10 °, and suppressed undesirable upper lobes. This provides better coverage of the "area" under the antenna.

 

Commercially available broadband antennas, covering the EU868 and US915 MHz range also receive strong signals from GSM 900MHz transmitters, working in Europe with high powers. This adversely affects the range and sensitivity of Helium-LoraWan devices, intermodulations may appear, especially near GSM antenna masts.

Our antenna has a built-in bandpass filter that works without attenuation in the working band of the antenna and is characterized by attenuation for other frequencies.

The range obtained on this antenna is even several dozen kilometers. The range depends on the mounting height, the type of Access Point, the quality of the antenna connector used, as well as the terrain and configuration of access points on the other side of the link.

In the construction of the heat sink, we do not use LC matching circuits (capacitance-inductance correlation) that allow for "artificial" antenna impedance adjustment and lowering the VSWR coefficient. This causes an increase in induction or capacitance which results in "blurring" of digital signals and has a negative impact on the bit / Hz encoding and the error rate (BER). Our antenna works "clean, resonant-resistive" and has a very low self-noise figure and an excellent bit / Hz encoding ratio.

The antenna housing is grounded, which protects it against electrostatic discharge(electric charges appearing on the antenna are discharged to the earthing system). For proper operation, the mast on which the antenna is mounted must be grounded to the existing lightning protection system.
